After a first glance at the latest version of the content management system (CMS) TYPO3 we are convinced it all worked out very well. Not only the update can be installed without any problem, the new design of the user interface is delightful as well, even though TYPO3 remains true to its simple but effectful design. But more interesting are the innovations on the inside.
TYPO3 4.4 provides the so called "introduction package" for beginners. Who wants to gain first experience with TYPO3, gets - after the first set up - a full TYPO3 installation inclusive front end. This is a huge step forward and may be the key to an even quicker spreading of this favoured business CMS.
The installer and the install-tool of TYPO3 have been changed and are now more user friendly in their handling.
Of interest for editors may be the improved "htmlArea", which is now based on the ExtJS-framework and comes up with a more advanced performance, especially concerning loading time.
Conclusion: TYPO3 version 4.4 is pure joy.
